Three Swans Studios - New Design Line Announcement/Fall 2004
November, 2004 Three Swans Studios is very pleased to announce the introduction of our new line of appliqué patterns, starting with the following designs:
· Summer Roses (TSS 3034): a beautiful rose block designed with corner motifs which form a lovely secondary design of rosehips and leaves
· Dianthus (TSS 3035): a design inspired by vibrant clusters of this very decorative flower
· Tulips (TSS 3036): this small tulip bouquet was designed so that you can bring spring indoors any time you like
· Leaves & Berries (TSS 3037): a design inspired by all those richly coloured berries tucked into foliage
· Pinks (TSS 3038): this design was inspired by cheerful masses of pinks in a border
· Pomona (TSS 3039): this design was inspired by Pomona, the ancient goddess of fruits. We wanted it to suggest a rich and “fruitful” harvest.
The Collection
Our Collection now contains over 30 stained glass and appliqué designs, ranging from the naturalistic, to the geometric, mythological & decorative. The naturalistic designs – like our six new appliqué ones and our stained-glass Butterflies, Dragonflies, Pisces, Harvest, Wild Roses, Sunflower, Vineyard, Woodland Orchid, Bordered Rose & Bordered Lily – are uniquely stylized but remain true to their subject matter, while many of the geometric stained- glass designs – like the Crystals, Quartet, North Star & Starfire Banners – have a spiritual quality about them. With the decorative stained-glass designs, we venture into interlacing motifs – Knotwork I, Celtic Cross & Single Strand – and touch on crazyquilt with our Victorian Tea Cozy & Stocking designs. Our mythological patterns – like the Dragon, Phoenix & New Dawn (Angel) – are strikingly bold. These stained-glass designs tend to be quite large and elaborate, and will provide a welcome challenge for more experienced quilt makers. That said, all of our patterns come with fully illustrated, step-by-step instructions for either the appliqué or stained-glass reverse appliqué technique. We’ve also introduced new quick-fuse instructions for both of our product lines. All our stained-glass patterns are also drawn with a broken line down the center of the stained-glass leading lines which can be used as a guide for a bias binding technique. Of course, they can be used as designs for traditional hand appliqué as well.

About Three Swans Studios
Three Swans Studios is comprised of two sisters – Joan Bouwmeester and Debbie Bouwmeester-Fasek – who are situated in different parts of Canada and come from quite different artistic backgrounds. Joan lives in Ottawa, Ontario and is trained as a Visual Artist (painting & drawing). Prior to Three Swans Studios, in addition to making her own art, Joan worked as an Heraldic Artist and Calligrapher. Debbie is in Edmonton, Alberta, and is a Fibre Artist. In her own work, Debbie has extensive experience in the reverse appliqué technique, and in the area of embroidery has focused on experimental interpretive stitching and colour applications. We formed Three Swans Studios to pool our diverse talents to bring you only the most delightful quilt patterns imaginable.
